Syed Haider Raza was a famous Indian artist who lived between 22 February 1922 – 23 July 2016. He lived and worked from France throughout his lifetime. During his initial years his paintings were mostly based on landscapes ,later on it developed into more abstract versions. He believed that the bindi(dot) was the center of existence and most of his paintings were based on that. He used watercolors and oil paints for his beautiful paintings. His works were mostly influenced by french artists, but with a string love for his mother country. The rural and modern India versions of his paintings are very beautiful, most of them may look blured, but that's where modern art comes into place. Most of his paintings are highly priced at Sotheby's and Christies. One of his paintings were sold at US for approximately $1.4 million during an auction in December 2006. He was of a proud recipient of many prestigious awards. He was awarded the Padma Shree, which is India's 4th civilian honor in the year 1981.
